he was mentioned in his father in law's bequest to Martha Worsley as being a
hairdresser and living at George Street, London. William was employed
as Hairdresser in 1841 in London Middlesex, Marylebone, 32 Upper
Marylebone St, Portland Place (London in 1841 Commercial Post Office Directory).
He was counted in a census in
1861 in London Middlesex, Marylebone, 32 Upper Marylebone St, St Marylebone
All Souls. He was employed
in 1871 as a baker at 32 Upper Marylebone St, St Marylebone, he was a widower
by this time and was lodging next to his son Henry Dagg and family. He was counted
in a census in 1881
at 72 Queens Road, Paddington. By this time he was 84 years of age and being
looked after by his unmarried daughter Louisa
aged 39 who was working as an assistant at a Furriers. Also in the household
is his "niece" Eliza aged 17. This is actually his grandaughter, she
was neice to Louisa who probably gave the information to the enumerator. He
died aged 85 years on 31 May 1882 in the Paddington Workhouse Infirmary, the
certificate states he was "a baker of 72, Queens Road, cause of death stricture,
enlarged prostate and chronic bronchitis. certified by R E Gaye. Informant A
Reed of Paddington Workhouse, present at the death, registered on 2 June 1882,

(picture above) Is on the site of of the Grayfriars Monastery (Franciscan). The first church here was built in 1225. The church was rebuilt in 1306 by Margaret the second wife of Edward 1, . The church burned down in the great fire, it was rebuilt by Wren in 1677-87 on the foundations of the old chancel at a cost of £11,778 9s 6d, which made it one of the most expensive. The steeple was added later in 1701-4. The church was destroyed in Blitz. The Steeple was preserved in 1960 and the current garden built. |

Upper Marylebone Street No longer exists today (2005). It is now an extension of New Cavendish Street. The photo above is of 164 New Cavendish St. which is now a barbers with flats and offices above it dates back to the same period as the house at 32 Upper Marylebone Street. |

All Souls Church, Langham Place is unique as the last surviving church built by John Nash, who also developed nearby Regent's Park and Regent Street.

Louisa was counted in a census in 1861 where she was still living with her parents at 32 Upper Marylebone St, St Marylebone All Souls. She was counted in a census in 1871at 22 Westmorland Street, Portland Place where her occupation was lisrted as "Milliner". She was counted in a census in 1881 in 72 Queens Road Paddington where she was listed as an "assistant at a furriers". She looked after her father William David Dagg in his old age. Louisa never married, she died aged 45
