Arthur Henry Cox [Parents] was born on 17 Mar 1912 in Woolavington, Somerset. He was christened on 16 Jun 1912. He died on 7 Jan 1989 in Taunton, Somerset. He married Olive Mary Pearse in Woolavington, Somerset. Arthur was employed as mason.

On the 18th of April 1942, the day of his wedding, he lived in Grange Cottage, Woolavington. He worked as a mason.

On the 1st of February 1964, at the time of the wedding of his daughter, he was a farm labourer.

During the early 1970's he worked at the Post Office Supplies Depot in Bristol Road, Bridgwater.

Olive Mary Pearse [Parents] was born 1 on 7 Nov 1916 in Bagborough, Somerset. She died on 19 Nov 1993 in Taunton, Somerset. She married Arthur Henry Cox in Woolavington, Somerset.

One year after the birth of Olive, Emma Louise died. Olive was then looked after by Emma's brother, William and his wife, Amy. They lived at Darkfield Farm, Bawdrip, Woolavington. Amy, together with Joan Pearse, were later to be Godparents to Olive's daughter, Joy.

Once a year, John Pearse and family would hire a car and driver to visit Olive. They then then drove on to Puriton to visit another set of (unknown) relatives - Joy believes they were the village policeman, Mr Willis and his wife Ada. However, it is more likely that they were visiting John's mother, Esther, who, it is believed, went to live with her daughter, Elizabeth Young and her granddaughter, Alice Young, who also lived in Puriton.

Following Arthur's death, Olive married his brother, Harold Leslie Cox, in February 1990 in Newton Abbott, Devon,

Harold Leslie Cox [Parents] was born on 30 May 1920 in Woolavington, Somerset. He died in 2007. He married Olive Mary Pearse in Feb 1990 in Newton Abbott, Devon,.

He served in the Navy during the 1940s.
On the 7th of October 1946, when he married, he worked as a carpenter and joiner and lived at Grange Cottage,
Woolavington.
After he married, he lived at Ellesmere, Cossington, then in Oxfordshire and Devon before eventually returning to
Somerset.

Harold first married Doreen Margaret Scott Walker [288] on the 7th of October 1946 in Woolavington.

William Sidney Cox was born on 23 Nov 1890 in Cossington, Somerset. He died on 28 Nov 1964 in East Reach Hospital, Taunton, Somerset. He married Ellen Louisa Parr on 29 Jan 1910 in St. John The Baptist Church, Bridgwater, Somerset.

1. William Sidney Cox [6], son of William Henry Mogg Cox [187] and Elizabeth Mogg [188], was born on the 23rd of November 1890 in Cossington, near Bridgwater, Somerset, England. He died of prostate cancer on the 28th of November 1964 in East Reach Hospital, Taunton, Somerset, England aged 74. He was cremated and his ashes interred in the Garden of Remembrance at Taunton Crematorium.

In 1891, at 4 months of age, he lived with his parents and brother Arthur in Cossington.
In 1901 he lived in Turells (or Trivells) Cottage, Cossington with his widowed father and his sisters Ada and Ruth..
At the time of his first marriage, on the 29th of January 1910, he worked as a Gardener at the Grange,
Woolavington, Somerset, England, and lived in Grange Cottage, also in Woolavington. The Grange was owned by
Major Browning and the cottage was tied to it for a member of staff to live in. William worked for the Major both
at the time of his marriage and after the Great War.

In 1921 and 1923 when his youngest children, Vera and Gordon, were born he continued to live at Grange
Cottage, Woolavington.
On the 24th of February 1923, when son Gordon was born, he worked as a Labourer in a Stone Quarry (possibly
in Cossington).
On the 4th of November 1930, at the time of the death of his son Gordon, he worked as a General Labourer.
On the 4th of November 1932, at the time of the death of his first wife Ellen, he worked as a Labourer in a Cement
Works. He was still living in Grange Cottage.
On the 24th of November 1934 he worked as a Labourer
On the 18th of April 1942 (son Arthur's marriage) and the 6th of June 1942 (daughter Vera's marriage) he was
recorded as working as a Storekeeper .
On the 7th of October 1946 (son Harold's marriage) he worked as a Gardener.
On the 25th of October 1947, at the time of the death of his second wife Ethel, he worked as a Stock Checker at
the Royal Ordnance Factory, Puriton, Somerset, England, and lived at Grange Cottage.
In later years he moved to Eastwick Road, Taunton to live with Ethel's cousin, Hilda Way, where he remained until
his death in 1964.

William married Ellen Louisa Parr [189] on the 29th of January 1910 in St. John The Baptist Church, Bridgwater, Somerset, England. Although William was only 19, their marriage certificate records his age as 22. This was Ellen's second marriage. Her first marriage was to William Haines Mansfield Brabner [190] on the 26th of March 1904, also in St. John the Baptist Church, Bridgwater.

Ellen Louisa Parr was born on 24 Dec 1881 in Tidcombe, Tiverton, Devon. She died on 4 Nov 1932 in Woolavington, Somerset. She married William Sidney Cox on 29 Jan 1910 in St. John The Baptist Church, Bridgwater, Somerset.

Ellen Louisa Parr [189], daughter of Humphrey Parr [192] and Elizabeth Melhuish Yendell [193], was born on the 24th of December 1881 in Tidcombe, Tiverton, Devon, England and died on the 4th of November 1932 in Woolavington, aged 50. She was buried in St. Mary's Church, Woolavington, next to her son, Gordon.

In 1891 she lived in Bolham, Tiverton, Devon, England with her parents, Humphrey and Elizabeth, and brothers,
William and Charles.
In 1901 she lived at 121 Loxley Terrace, Chilton Road, Wembdon, Bridgwater, again with her parents, Humphrey
and Elizabeth, and brothers, William and Charles. She worked as a Dressmaker.
On the 26th of March 1904, when she married William Brabner, she lived at 12 Melbourne Terrace, Bridgwater.
At the time of her marriage to William Sidney Cox, on the 29th of January 1910, she lived in Bath Road, Bridgwater.
From before 1921 until she died in 1932 she lived with husband William and children in Grange Cottage,
Woolavington.

George Pearse [Parents] 1 was born about 1845 in WELLINGTON Somerset England. He was christened 2 on 19 Mar 1845 in Axminster, Devon. He died 3 in 1926 in Kidderminster, Worcestershire. He married 4 Elizabeth Ann Gunn in 1875 in Wiveliscombe, Somerset. George was baptized on 19 Mar 1845 in Axminster, Devon. He was counted in a census 5 in 1851 in 8 Fore Street, Wellington, Somerset. He was counted in a census 6 in 1871 in West Street, Wiveliscombe, Somerset. He was employed 7 as milliner & draper in Apr 1871/1901. He resided 8 in Apr 1881 in Barbican Terrace, Barnstaple, Devon. He resided 9 in Apr 1901 in 9 High Street, Barnstaple, Devon. He was employed 10 as retired draper in Apr 1911. He resided 11 in Apr 1911 in 5, Coventry Street, Kidderminster, Worcestershire.

The Kelly's Directories from 1878 thru to 1902 give George's business address as 106 High Street, Barnstaple. His home address was 3 Barbican Terrace, Barnstaple. In 1881, the Census shows that he has three domestic servants/draper's assistants, namely, Mary Ley, 18, from Combemartin; Elizabeth Bament, 23, from Marwood, Devon; Maria Williams, 20, from Minehead.

There is no reference to his business in the 1906 Directory.

Also resident are George's wife, Elizabeth and servant Ada Tuck from Camelford, Cornwall who is also employed as a draper's assistant.

He was now a widower.

Elizabeth Ann Gunn 1 was born in 1855 in Risca, Monmouthshire. She died 2 in 1905 in City Of London Registration District. She married 3 George Pearse in 1875 in Wiveliscombe, Somerset.


Eric John Pearse [Parents] was born 1 on 28 Oct 1915 in Bagborough, Somerset. He died on 19 Oct 1969 in Bristol, Gloucestershire. He was buried on 24 Oct 1969.
