UK General Records Office offer the facility to order certificates online,
this can be used to place orders using the GRO index reference and for
certificates in the 20th Century where the exact details are known.

cheddar was 8d a pound( 2.2 kilograms). A labourer earnt around 70 pounds
a year sterling at the turn of the 20th Century. (there were 240 old pence
"d" to the pound sterling)
