Was Father although relationship to head of household (Henry) in 1871is lodger. By 1881census aged 84 and living at 72 Queens Rd, London Middx with unmarried neice eliza age 17 (daughter of Henry) and daughter???Louisa 9?? years old and an assistant at a furriers. Listing for 29 year old Louisa in the 1871 census.

also: From her father's will 1834 - wife of William Dagg of George Street (?) in the County of Middlesex, hairdresser. Martha had a sister Maria Worsley who after being widowed in 1843 married her brother in law Thomas Reeves at Marylebone All Souls, their marriage certificate dated 2 Mar 1846. William Dagg & Eliza Dagg were their witnesses


Louisa Dagg

States that she is the Furriers Assistant 9?? year old daughter of William D atage 84? possible but notlikely he is still recorded as widower living at 72 Queens Road Middx.There is a louisa on the 1871 census who is 29 born in Marlebonewho was a milliner Parish record almost certainly confirms birth as 1841
Nevermarried died aged 45


Caroline Carnell

She died on 6 July 1923 at 64, Talgarth Mansions, registered in the district of Fulham.the certificate staes "Female aged 82 years. Spinster and daughter of <<George>> Carnell of independent means deceased. Cause of death: Cerebral haemorrhage, certified by A Ross. Informant: Lavinia C Cox, neice, present at the death, 64, Talgarth Mansions, registered same day. (Registrar sig- illegble) (father's first name obviously just a mistake)[information courtesy of Tina Long] She never married and left a will bequeathing her property to her nieces.

The Will was made 5 July 1921 and amended by codicil 5 October 1922.

The first clause appoints a firm of solicitors in Soho Square as executors, but with the codicil Caroline changed this in the autumn before she died. This suggests that Lavinia might have been caring for her at this stage.
The Will consists of two main gift clauses:
Extracts: Let it be known that Caroline Carnell of 64, Talgarth Mansions, West Kensington in the county of Middlesex Spinster who died there on 6th July 1923 and be it further known that at the date hereunder written the last Will and Testament with a codicil of the said deceased was proved and registered in the Principle Probate Registry of the High Court of Justice ................ probate to Lavinia Carson Cox ****of 64 Talgarth Mansions aforesaid (wife of Walter Cox) neice of the deceased and sole executrix.

"I bequeath to Mrs Harriett Thornton*** my leasehold house Number 39, Saint Leonard's Terrace for all my estate and interest therein she paying the rent reserved by and observing and performing the covenants on the part of the lessee and conditions therein contained and indemnifying my executor and my estate thereof"
".............funeral expenses...i give devise and bequeath all the rest residue and remainder of my estate... to my neice Lavinia Carson Cox for her own absolute use and benefit and as to real estate in fee simple"

Lavinia Carson Cox **** was the daughter of Harriet Carnell and James Halse MiIllet
Mrs Harriett Thornton*** was actually born Harriet Dagg in 1880 in Teddington, the daughter of Henry Dagg and Sarah Carnell who was sister to Caroline Carnell


John William Mitchell

BIRTH: Son of John Williamson Mitchell Surgeon and Dentist b abt 1807 Midlothian Edinburgh Scotland and most likely his mother was Charlotte Grant b abt 1835 in Falmer She was in 1861Servant to John Mitchell senior who she later married

Adelaide Dagg

She resided in 1871 in London Middlesex, Marylebone, 32 Upper Marylebone Street. She was employed as Governess visiting the household of John W Mitchell (whose son she married later that year in 1881) in Bridge Cottage Stanley Rd, Teddington London in 1881. She married John William MITCHELL on 27 April 1881 in the Kingston District of Surrey. The certificate states "Marriage of Adelaide Dagg, solemnized at the Register Office in the district of Kingston on Thames in the county of Surrey. Date: 27 April 1881, John William Mitchell, 24 years, bachelor, Gilder, resident at Bridge Cottage, Stanley Rd, Teddington, father John William Mitchell a dentist and Adelaide Dagg, 22 years, spinster, of 17, Watts Lane, Teddington, father: Henry Dagg, baker, certified before registrar Henry Fry and witnessed by Jane Wood and Charles Dash" information courtesy of Tina Long

Left will with codicil proved at London 17 March 1834 - James Worsley of Brighthelmstone (Brighton) Executor. Witnessed by G Cocksedge Solicitor of Brighton and Thos. Thompson his clerk.
Living at Edward Street, Brightonhelmstone (Brighton) at time of making Will.

BIOGRAPHY: Brighton was known as 'Bristelmestune' as recorded in the Doomsday book, in 1066 the first sort of census in England

DEATH: He left a will with a codicil which was proved at London on 17 March 1834 - James Worsley of Brighthelmstone (Brighton) was the Executor. It was witnessed by G Cocksedge Solicitor of Brighton and Thos. Thompson his clerk.
John was living at Edward Street, Brightonhelmstone (Brighton) at time of making Will.


Mary

Married name Worsley
1841: Living with daughter Mary Merrion, at Sandhurst.

BIOGRAPHY: On headstone: "Sacred to the Memory of Mary Worsley Relict of the late John Worsley of Brighton who died December 1844 aged 79yrs. She wasthe Mother of 15 children of whom 9 survived her. Her end was peace."


Thomas Reeves

BIOGRAPHY Son of William Reeves b abt 1767 and Martha Russell who married 27 Oct 1786 in Rovenden
He married his brother George's widow Maria


Maria Worsley

BIOGRAPHY:
George's grocer & bakery shop was sold by his sole surviving executor,his brother Thomas to Tom Collins in 1851. Maria emigrated to America in the early 1850s.

Census 1860: Detroit Ward 5, Wayne, Michigan, living with Thomas and son James aged 19yrs

She died in 1866 aged 66yrs in Detroit, however Sandhurst Baptist Church records state she is buried with her first husband George, plot no 292.It is more likely that her body was buried in Detroit with Thomas and theinscription recorded on her father's headstone by daughter Maria Munn


George Reeves

Son of William Reeves b abt 1767 and Martha Russell who married 27 Oct 1786 in Rovenden

Occupation: Grocer & Baker
Lease of grocery shop/bakery at Lower Green, Sandhurst, assigned to George Reeves on 9 Jun 1838 for 120 pounds. Land consisted of tenperches, near to Broad Oak Farm. Bakehouse and buildings erected by Frances Ayerst in 1821.

BIOGRAPHY: Left will dated 18 Oct 1843 appointing brothers William andThomas (carpenters of Sandhurst) executors of estate, to carry on business of grocer and baker to support George's children and maintenanceof his wife as long as she remained unmarried. Witnessed by Thos.Ayerst, Surgeon, Rolvenden and Jervis Munn, Saddler.
Proved at London 9 Dec 1843.

William died in 1846, leaving Thomas sole executor.

On 3 Mar 1851, Thomas Reeves sold the lease to Thomas Collins, a millerof Sandhurst.
